Yella Beezy has been an active artist since the early 2010s, releasing several mixtapes including 'Mash Mode Overload' (2005), 'Lil Yella Mane' (2012), 'Country Rap Tunes' (2015) and 'Lite Work' (2016) and the single 'Trap in Designer' in 2016. It was not until 2017, however, that he had his breakthrough with single 'That's On Me' (2017) which was a track pre-released from the mixtape 'Lite Work V.2' (2017). All of his tracks up to this point had been released independently and it took time for 'That's On Me' to make its mark. It was a year from its release date when it reached number one on mainstream rap/R&B radio after being picked up by several radio DJs including DJ Bay Bay and Terri Thomas. The single 'Up One', in collaboration with Lil Baby, was also released from the 'Lite Work V.2' album. This was extremely popular with the video being viewed online more than 1.5 million times in its first week of release. Also in 2017 he released a further mixtape 'Broke Nights Rich Days'. Following the success of 'That's On Me', he signed for record label HITCO and released the album 'Ain't No Going Bacc' (2018). This included a re-release of 'That's On Me' featuring 2 Chainz, TL and Jeezy. He also supported Beyoncé and Jay-Z on their 'On the Run II' tour in 2018. Later in the same year, Beezy was shot at several times whilst driving his car, requiring hospital treatment for three wounds. He recovered well and in 2019 released singles 'Bacc at It Again' with Quavo and Gucci Mane and single 'Rich MF'.
