JP Saxe

The Canadian singer/songwriter Jonathan Percy Starker Saxe was born in Toronto on March 23, 1993. Before making his solo debut with 2017's "Changed," he worked as a songwriter, co-writing Samantha Jade's 2015 hit "Shake That" and penning songs for artists like Foxes, Isac Elliot, and Jacob Banks. Following a handful of non-album singles of his own, he unveiled his solo career with the release of a debut EP, Both Can Be True: Part 1, in 2018. One year later, he teamed up with American pop singer Julia Michaels to record "If the World Was Ending," a Grammy-nominated duet that earned platinum certifications in seven countries, including the UK and the US. The pop-influenced ballad appeared on both his 2020 EP Hold It Together and his 2021 album Dangerous Levels of Introspection, and its global popularity earned JP Saxe guest appearances on songs like Lennon Stella's "Golf on TV" and Maisie Peters's "Maybe Don't," both of which were released in 2020. Meanwhile, he continued writing songs for other artists and maintained a fruitful partnership with Julia Michaels. The two co-wrote the songs "All Your Exes" and "Little Did I Know," both of which appeared on Michaels' solo debut album, Not in Chronological Order, in 2021.
