It’s no regular silk or metallic—that’s for sure!

The red carpet at the , which are currently underway in New Jersey tonight, is a place to dress as flamboyantly as possible. The iconic music awards ceremony has delivered some wild fashion moments over the years. Just take Lady Gaga’s meat dress in 2010, or Lil Kim’s purple nipple pasty in 1999. The bolder the fashion statement—the better! Tonight, rapper Cardi B certainly kept this fashion mood alive with her own red carpet ensemble: The star chose a sculptural gown that was made out of hundreds of silver hair clips. Who designed such an avant-garde creation? Turkish-British designer Dilara Findikoglu, who pasted many, many silver clips together in a cohesive pattern. (It was on Findikoglu’s fall 2023 runway as a mini dress; Cardi’s was likely custom.) To show complete dedication to the designer’s vision, Cardi—who’s performing her track “Bongos” with Megan Thee Stallion this evening—even wore two arm cuffs with even more hair clips (though, funnily enough, she didn’t don any on her head).
