Now, hes looking to keep his run going with a new announcement. In a report by Billboard , The Weeknd will take the stage and perform at the 2021 Billboard Music Awards on May 23. The announcement comes after Abel was named the top finalist at the show this with a nomination in 16 different categories such as Top Artist, Top Billboard 200 Album and Top Latin Song. Finalists and winners are based on key fan interactions with music album and digital song sales, streaming, radio airplay and social engagement tracked by Billboard and its data partners, including MRC Data. The Weeknds Billboard success with his fourth studio album After Hours was remarkable. It became the fourth best-selling album of 2020 with over 2 million copies sold and gave The Weeknd three No. 1s with Heartless, Blinding Lights and Save Your Tears featuring Ariana Grande.
