Just after the Rockefeller Center’s Christmas Tree lighting, Ronson and Theroux gathered a cool crew at the Rock Center watering hole.
If there’s an official beginning to the holiday season in New York City, it’s the lighting of The Rockefeller Center Tree. Every year, thousands of people—many in Santa hats—flood to Midtown to watch the 80-foot Norwegian Spruce, topped with a 3D Swarovski star and 50,000 lights, come to life. Meanwhile, millions more watch it on television. So when Mark Ronson and Justin Theroux wanted to throw a party at Pebble Bar, their joint watering hole so close to the tree that there’s (*shhh)* a secret passageway to 30 Rock, there was no better occasion than the 91st annual Rockefeller Tree Lighting. Promptly at 8, the line at Pebble Bar was already out the door with hopeful revelers trying to get in. For those lucky enough to be on the list, they got to explore the festive three floors of the townhouse. (One included a caviar station, whereas another had a DJ booth.) Theroux greeted Paul Rudd and Emma Stone with giant bear hugs when they walked in, while Ronson manned the DJ booth alongside Grace Gummer. Antoni Porowski and Tan France held court in the corner, while Huma Abedin and Helena Christensen posed for a photograph together. Annabelle Dexter-Jones was there alongside her equally chic mother, Ann. Walé, Cristina Milioti, and Charly Sturm were also in the crowd. The night hit a pinnacle when rapper Rakim put on a surprise performance. Below, go inside the starry, seasonal night.
