In the video, it appears the Suge rapper was the aggressor in the fight while in a Walmart store in which another man was killed. DaBaby Evoked North Carolina Stand Your Ground Law In Shooting Defense In his self-defense claim, DaBaby, born Jonathan Kirk, invoked North Carolinas version of the controversial Stand Your Ground Law, made famous when George Zimmerman used it to defend his murder of Trayvon Martinin Florida in 2012. According to North Carolina law firm, Kirk & Kirk Before the enactment of Stand Your Ground statutes, a person generally has a duty to retreat before being justified in using deadly force against an attacker.
